Support your industrial & sourcing strategy.
EXPIA propose adapted services in industrial & sourcing area, especially around electronics, to either choose, follow your subcontractors , or purchase raw materials, but also to improve your company digitalization strategy.

Services
Need to improve your purchasing strategy? To impement a design to cost on some products? To overcome recurring line down issues, inventory issues? To expand into a new type of market, to rationalize your suppliers panel? To adapt your tools to your needs?
Needs are different depending on campany organization, and its size. You can find bellow a list of potential services I propose.
But an exchange together will allow a better understading of your expectations, and to propose a custom offer. Please contact us.
BOM analysis
LThe BOM (Bill Of Material) is the list of components of a product.
Analsyis can be a:
- cost analysis
- risks analysis (mono-source / procurement/ perinity)
Depending on complexity level, analysis leadtime varies from 2 hours to many hours.
For an accurate analysis, folling inputs are necessary:
- yearly ordered volumes
- parts delivery place
A form allows to collect those data and many others (specifc parts, purchasing / procurement flow imposed …), in order to make this analysis as close as possible ro reallity.
Support during project
In order to achieve initial business plan (cost / quality / milestones), industrialization constraints (purchasing / manufacturing) has to be considered during project phase.
It happens somtimes for different reasons, such as lake of ressources or time, that some important steps are not completed, with at the end impacts on initial business plan, and sometimes irreversible consequences for some companies.
My goal is to provide support and expertise to your buyer or design office on an ad hoc basis during key phases of the project, to ensure that the initial objectives are met.
Timing is important :
- at the kick-off of the project to ensure all constraints have been taking in account as far as possible
- at money times to choose technologies / suppliers
I also suggest process to follow suppliers, and also lead the follow up until product launch, be support on some key milestones (price negotiation, contract, audit …)
Critical part sourcing
Sourcing a critical part requires:
- process in place,
- dedicated workload,
- existing manufacturer / distributor network able to answer to the need.
I offer different kind of services, from a simple market analysis to a complete follow-up, taking responsability of the sourcing until start of production.
Tooling choice / deployement / digitalization
Tools allow analysis, follow-up and decision making.
In many organizations, each department (supply chain, R&D, data management) deploys its own tool, and communication between tools doesn’t exist, and monitoring required human actions.
On the other side, Electronics major actors (manufacturers, distributors) and software editors propose tools or API to provide major information regarding their components (life cycle, availability, purchasing price …).
Interconnexion of tools through gateways, reports allow detailed analysis, databases update, and find levers for negotiations.
Based on my experience on various ERP / tools, I offer a diagnostic, and adapted solutions to your organization.
Transition manager
With my experience, I help organization to succeed in their transition phase, driving processes / people.
Production reshoring
Need to relocate your production, change your sub-constractor ?
Shifting geopolitical stakes can call into question an established subcontracting strategy. A change of production location is sometimes desirable, or even necessary, on pain of jeopardizing the continuity of current business.
This decision has a cost and entails risks, which need to be studied and addressed as soon as possible.
I support you in this initial phase, as well as during the migration phase (choice, audit of suppliers, monitoring of transfer stages).
Training
To meet specific expectations of various kind of organizations, I propose adapted modules, which can be tuned to match perfectly:
Topics | Attendees | Level |
---|---|---|
Electronics category presentation, specific ecosystem | purchasing/ industrialization / R&D | Basic |
Risks analysis : cost / perennity / procurement regarding a product. Levers to assess risks | purchasing | Basic |
Setup a strategy for electronics category | purchasing | Advanced |
Design methodology related to main risks : cost / perennity / procurement on a product life cycle | R&D / purchasing | Advanced |
Choose geographic area of subcontractors, what parameter to take in account, pitfall to avoid | purchasing/ industrialization | Advanced |
Skills
I started dealing with Electronics and Industry during my studies last century. My career in this field, spanning more than 25 years, has enabled me to acquire a level of expertise through a variety of professions, which I now wish to make available to others.
In 2015, I took a new turn in my career by joining my company’s purchasing department.
Armed with my technical experience, curiosity and motivation, I quickly added value to the department, and am now able to offer my expertise on technologies and situations encountered.
Industry
Around 25 years of experience in industry area in several positions such as firmware developer, purchaser, project and products manager fo electronics products and various customers.
I got many opportunities to deal with production plants to understand issues, and help to find solutions.
Electronics
With an engineering background in electronics and industrial computing, I’ve spent more than 25 years working alongside electronic board designers, whether as an embedded software developer, project manager or buyer.
Able to :
- read and understand schematics
- evaluate main components source of cost (passive and active components, connectors, etc.)
- support a design office in the choice of components, based on their durability, availability and cost.
Tools / softwares
My first job was to develop softwares, and I’m convince that tools have to allow us to to be fast and efficient whatever our job. During all my porfessional life, I always setup tools / gateways between tools to allow the most efficient / automatised access to data.
ERP/CRM knowledge
- MOVEX
- SAP
- SALES FORCE / Quip module
Development skills
- Visual Basic (macro Excel) – advanced
- MySQL (base de données) – basic
- application WEB (HTML / JSON- basic/ prototypes
- Langage C – advanced
Development tools
- gcc
- Arduino
- Google App
Components purchasing
The footprint of Electronics area is specific comparing to other catageories, with on one side
- Manufacturers
Manufacturers account for several billion euros in sales, with production sites all over the world, and sales strategies that can differ according to geographic zone, or the component’s final application (military, medical, automotive, etc.).
… and on the other side
- Distributors
Distributors are the intermediaries in charge of technical support, sales and logistics, in case where the manufacturer does not wish to address its customers directly. These distributors also generate sales comparable to those of manufacturers.
So, on the one hand, we have manufacturers and distributors – major players who cannot be ignored – and on the other, hundreds of thousands of end customers of varying sizes who consume components through manufacturing subcontractors.
How can you deal and succeed in this complex environment?
That’s the skill I’ve developed over the last 8 years.
Manufacturing subcontracting
During project phases and product serial life, I managed many suppliers in many area Europe / North of Africa / Asia for following technologies:
- Plastic injection molding
- Die cast (Aluminum injection molding)
- Connectors molding / stamping
- Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
- Displays customization (TFT, touch screen)
- Battery pack assembly
- Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) through EMS
My scope:
- RFP/ RFQ launch
- Interaction with R&D regarding Design to Cost and Design For Manufacturing
- Build decision matrix, including risks assessment
- animate supplier choice with internal partner (R&D, quality, project, finance)
- unit price / tooling(CAPEX) / logisitc contract negotiation
- Follow-up of first of tools, and parts tuning until the product reach the expected quality level (PPAP)
- yearly price negotiation
- support to other compagny department (procurment, accounting, project) in case of issues
